Choosing the Right Match

The match you choose decides how much you can prepare. Pick one you can follow and whose toss you'll see.

Read the Match Card

Each card shows the competition and format, both teams, a countdown and the start time. Teams often meet more than once in a series, so check the date as well as the names.

Three Questions Before You Commit

  1. Do you know these teams? You'll judge form and roles better.
  2. Will you be around at the toss? Confirmed XIs arrive then.
  3. When do entries close? Open the contest and check; it may be before the first ball.

If the answer to two of these is no, pick another match.

Format Changes What Matters

  • T20: the top three batters and bowlers used in the powerplay and at the death are involved most.
  • ODI: middle-order batters have more time; bowlers can bowl up to ten overs, so steady bowlers matter more.

Conditions to Note

  • Pitch: flat, dry and turning, or green.
  • Weather: cloud can help swing early; rain can shorten the match.
  • Evening matches: dew can make bowling second harder.
